ITB Berlin 2010

Every March people from all over the globe meet up at ITB Berlin for the world’s leading travel trade show.

It’s huge – 160,000 metres square of floor space featuring over 180 countries and regions. For exhibitors and trade visitors it’s a chance to do business, exchange ideas and catch up with the latest trends and technologies, for others an opportunity to travel the world for a few hours discovering amazing destinations.

And, it’s fun – every country brings something of its culture and temperament. In the Caribbean, Central and South Americas it’s carnival time, Africa pulsates to the rhythm of drumbeats, there is chamber music from Europe and in the far east a more reflective, melodic mood.

There are tempting tastes – shots of strong coffee from Columbia, delicate date and pistachio filled biscuits from Iran – and intricate handicrafts like the finely plaited and knotted silver jewelry from Trabzon in Turkey.

It’s what we travel for.
